As our globe becomes a smaller and smaller community, torn apart by injustice, prejudice, destruction and greed, we become victims of our own naivety and blindness. There are no quick fixes or single answers to be given. There is suffering, and always will beЕbut as the human race, with all of the gifts for beauty and love that we do possess, come many responsibilities that we are not living up to. There is room for the individual within communal living and responsibility, there is community within the individual, but we are straying-in some cases-further and further away from the positive potential we possess and closer to continued inequality and breaches in understanding. We study and segment the earth and all of life within it, in order to quantify and classify- to better understand things, but it is these understandings, or lack there of, and the faulty systems that result from them that are working against each other and against our ultimate goals as a species-survival. But is it enough to just survive? What does one person need to survive and how can we provide that as a global community to all around the world? And what does it take for a community to survive, for our communities to survive? Again, is survival enough? Happiness is from within, but shouldnТt we have a more equal opportunity for happiness, the freedom from not knowing when your next meal is, to be able to drink the water from the pump, to be able to walk the streets outside of your house and feel safe, the ability to have exposure to the wealth of knowledge from so many aspects of lifeЕOnce more, we owe the earth respect and responsibility, for as we all know, one-sided relationships donТt work; the earth continues to give and we continue to take. It is not as much of a question of if the earth will survive, it is a question of whether we can continue to be a part of this earth, and her many creatures. We cannot save them all, life is defined by death, disasters and tragedies, and mistakes-of all sizes- will continue, but we have to work as a global entity to help to alleviate the high levels of risk to our people and to our planet.
